Letter to the Grade 4s of 2020

Dear future Grade 4s, Welcome to the Elkanah Senior Primary! I have only been here one year and I have enjoyed it a lot. It was a great year for me. We didn't just do normal work, we did many other fun activities. Our Science Expo was very fun and we made some awesome contraptions and experiments. We also had a master chef day where we made a starters, main and desert for judges. We've had many sports days and swimming galas where we participate or support our house. There is also a range of sports to do. We also work with many forms of technology, constructing Movies, using SpheroBolts, creating virtual tours and more. There were so many more fun things we did, but it would probably take up this whole page mentioning them. There is a great place to play four square near the hall and the Grade 4 bathrooms and there is a big selection of books that you can take out from our library and I suggest definitely taking out some. I hope you enjoy the Elkanah Senior Primary as muc

Digital Footprints

A digital footprint is a "footprint" you leave behind when you go on the internet. You can have a positive footprint or a negative footprint. It is important to be aware of your digital footprint for a number of reasons. Things you write on social media are recorded permanently and it will float around the internet for your whole life. Things you post or write can affect your later life, when you want to get a job, or you are trying to get into a university.

Email Etiquette

Today in Digital Classroom we were learning about Email etiquette. The first video mentioned and explained the 5 important points to remember when writing a letter to a teacher: use a proper salutation, give a specific subject, keep it to the point, be professional and sign and proofread. After doing various activities involving Google Docs and Slides, I will definitely remember how to Email properly!

Stop-motion Project

This year's ILT was super-heroes. One of our tasks was to create a stop-motion project. Levi and I were together, for we were creating it in pairs. The first step was to create your filming background. Without it, the Greenscreen app wouldn't be able to put in a background. The base had to be black, and the background green or blue. Then, Levi and I had to create our character with Plasticine. We named our character Super Surfer, who's powers were breathing underwater and being able to fly on his surfboard. Super Surfers logo was a wave curling over two s's, which stood for Super Surfer. Our villain, Board Bogey, was made out of Lego, and his power was summoning tsunamis. The next (and one of the most tiring) step was to film using Icananimate. We would take one photograph, and then move our character a little bit, and then take another photograph and so on. This takes a long time, especially when you take over one hundred photographs. Eventually, when Levi and

Poetry ILT

Poetry is a great way to express your feelings. Poetry should have some sort of flow and it can sometimes rhyme. People write poetry to express certain things they feel strongly about. Over the past five days, we have completed different tasks for this years ILT: poetry. We were split into groups of four and did the following tasks: terminology, poetry writing, blackout poetry, analysing poetry and imagery. In terminology we had to define certain language words such as stanza or metaphor. In our second task, poetry writing, we chose our theme, surfing. Each of us in our group, then, had to choose a type of poem (E.G. haiku, concrete poem or colour poem) and write that type of poem based on our theme. For blackout poetry, an individual task, we had to draw a pattern with a permanent marker, leaving out words that form a poem. The poetry slam was our biggest task. We had to choose a theme, and do a play but the lyrics in poetic form. Our theme was insecurities, and so we acted it
